First Grade Place Value

Place Value: The place value of a digit in a number depends on the position of the digit in that number. The place value of zero is zero wherever it stands in the number.

Ex1: Find the place value of 4 in 43.
Ans: 4 stands in ten's place.Its place value is 4 times 10 = 4 x 10 = 40

Ex2: Find the place value of 5 in 35.
Ans: 5 stands in one's place.Its place value is 5 times 1 = 5 x 1 = 5

Ex3: Find the place value of 0 in 109.
Ans: 0 stands in ten's place.Its place value is 0 times 10 = 0 x 10 = 0

Ex4: Find the place value of 9 in 9.
Ans: 9 stands in one's place.Its place value is 9 times 1 = 9 x 1 = 9
